Bitcoin profit-taking tops $1 billion a day, second-largest this year
Daily Bitcoin profit-taking reached about $1.03 billion after the cryptocurrency moved above $87,000, according to Santiment, cited by CoinPost. The figure was just below the 2026 high of about $1.04 billion, making it the second-largest this year. Santiment linked the profit-taking to the rise toward $87,000 and said the price later fell to the $81,000 range. It said surges in realized profits often coincide with short- to mid-term market cooling.

Meanwhile raises $37.5 million to expand overseas sales
Bitcoin-based life insurer Meanwhile, backed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has raised $37.5 million, The Block reported on Oct. 9. The round was led by Bain Capital Crypto, with existing investors including Hun Ventures, Framework Ventures, Pantera Capital and Apollo participating. The Bermuda-based firm said total funding has topped $180 million. It reported assets of 1,183 bitcoin at end-2025 and forecast profit growth this year.

XRP faces renewed centralisation row as Justin Bons calls decentralisation claims a scam
Cyber Capital founder Justin Bons criticised claims that the XRP Ledger is decentralised, U.Today reported on Oct. 8. In a post on X, he said selling XRP to retail investors as decentralised was “an obvious scam”.
