[DigitalToday reporter Yoonseo Lee] XRP ranked first in average trading size among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation.
On July 31 (local time), blockchain media outlet The Crypto Basic reported that XRP’s average trading size was tallied at $86,680 based on TradingView’s crypto screener.
Bitcoin’s average trading size was about $14,200 and Ethereum’s was about $3,280. Major stablecoins such as USDT and USDC were also lower than XRP. XRP had fewer transactions than some large blockchains, but the amount moved per transaction was larger.
The figures show that even if the total number of transactions processed on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) is smaller than on other large blockchains, the amount of funds moved per transaction was larger. With the average trading size topping $86,000, some interpreted recent activity on the XRP Ledger as placing more weight on large transfers than on small retail transactions.
The market is discussing the possibility of institutional funds flowing in. Some in the XRP community argued the new figures are a sign of institutional activity on the network. In practice, large participants often move bigger sums in individual transactions.
It was also pointed out that average trading size alone cannot confirm institutional participation. Large transactions can also appear in exchange wallet transfers or fund movements by whale investors. That means there are limits to viewing it as direct evidence of an expansion in institutional funds.
This trend is also tied to rising activity in real-world assets (RWA) and stablecoins on the XRP Ledger. According to RWA.xyz data, the XRP Ledger attracted $2.6 billion in newly tokenised real-world asset value over the past six months, ranking second among all blockchains. The network’s total real-world asset value rose to $4.38 billion.
The stablecoin segment also expanded. Stablecoin transfer volume on the XRP Ledger rose 10.8 percent over the past 30 days to $4.28 billion, and total stablecoin market capitalisation reached $926 million. Of that, Ripple’s RLUSD accounted for about 94 percent of the network’s stablecoin market.
Along with this, the XRP Ledger appears to be increasing its use centred on payments and settlement. The growing share of RLUSD is also cited as a factor strengthening the XRP Ledger’s role in payments and institutional financial activity.
XRP traded near $1.07. It was down about 0.8 percent over 24 hours, and its market capitalisation was tallied at about $67.1 billion. If other on-chain indicators such as rising active addresses and exchange fund flows also improve, the market may focus on whether the XRP Ledger is expanding its role as a channel for institutional fund movements as a network for processing large transactions.
