KT launched its "public sector AI email security" service after obtaining the Cloud Security Assurance Program (CSAP) certification from the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), it said on Sunday.
KT AI email security is a cloud-based security service that uses AI technology to detect and block cyber threats delivered via email, such as ransomware and phishing messages. It applies a three-stage filtering system, including spam blocking, AI analysis and responses to advanced persistent threats (APT), to identify malicious emails and deliver only normal messages to customers' mail servers.
The public sector AI email security service targets key customers such as public institutions including state-run companies and national education institutions such as national universities. KT says they can use the cloud-based security service without separate large-scale infrastructure investment.
Users can selectively apply up to 3 APT analysis engines. It maintains malicious email detection accuracy of more than 97 percent through ongoing AI learning. Most analysis is completed within 1 minute, minimising delays in receiving emails.
KT also provides a "One-View" function to improve the work efficiency of security managers. It shows the basis and history of detecting malicious activity and the risk level on a single screen, helping managers quickly understand and respond to threats.
CSAP, which KT obtained, is a security certification required to provide cloud services to state and public institutions. KT says this is the first time in South Korea that an email security service combining AI and APT technologies has received CSAP certification.
Jeon Myung-joon (전명준), executive vice president and head of KT's Enterprise Service Division, said, "We will provide a security environment optimised for public and education institutions and support safe digital transformation."
