[Digital Today reporter Ji-young Lee] KB Kookmin Bank has introduced an electronic braille service to its internet banking platform to improve financial access for visually impaired customers. It aims to support independent financial lives for vulnerable groups by providing complex financial information in braille.

KB Kookmin Bank said on May 29 it had introduced the "electronic braille service" to key menus on its personal internet banking.

The electronic braille service converts financial information on internet banking screens into electronic braille. Customers can directly check financial information such as numbers and charts, which were difficult to confirm through voice guidance alone, using braille information devices or braille printers.

The service applies to major financial transaction screens such as account inquiries, transaction history inquiries and transfer result checks, and to screens for issuing certificates such as passbook copies, deposit balance certificates, debt certificates, financial transaction confirmation certificates and comprehensive taxation on financial income inquiries.

A KB Kookmin Bank official said, "We hope it helps visually impaired customers lead independent financial lives." The official added, "We will continue to work to practise inclusive finance so that anyone can use financial services without discrimination."
