Samsung Electronics has raised selling prices for multiple models of Galaxy smartphones and tablets in the U.S. market. Unlike the adjustment limited to some smartphones, tablets saw price increases across virtually the entire lineup, with a bigger impact.

PhoneArena, an IT-focused outlet, reported on April 14 local time that the price increases apply to smartphones including the Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy S25 Edge, as well as the Galaxy Tab series overall.

For smartphones, prices rose mainly for some higher-capacity models. The Galaxy Z Flip7 512GB and Galaxy S25 Edge 512GB were raised to $1,299.99 from $1,219.99, and the Galaxy S25 FE 256GB was adjusted to $749.99 from $709.99. The Galaxy S26 series was excluded from the increases.

Tablets saw broader and larger increases. The Galaxy Tab S11 128GB rose to $899.99 from $799.99, the 256GB to $999.99 from $859.99, and the 512GB to $1,199.99 from $979.99. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra 256GB rose to $1,299.99 from $1,199.99, the 512GB to $1,499.99 from $1,319.99, and the 1TB to $1,899.99 from $1,619.99.

Mid-range and entry-level tablets were not exempt. U.S. selling prices were raised across the board for the Galaxy Tab S10 FE, Tab S10 FE Plus, Tab S10 Lite, Tab A11 Plus, Tab A11 Plus 5G, and the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus released in 2024. The Galaxy Tab S10 Plus rose by as much as $180, and the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra 1TB is $280 more expensive than last week and last year.

In particular, the Galaxy Tab S11 series rose in price starting from the base model, and a shift in competitiveness is being detected in the premium tablet market. Some assessments also say its price advantage has weakened compared with Apple's iPad Pro lineup.

It is also notable that discount sales and list-price increases are appearing at the same time. The Galaxy Z Flip7 256GB is being sold at a $200 discount while keeping its starting price of $1,099.99. The Galaxy S25 FE 128GB is also being sold at a price $150 lower than its list price of $649.99. By contrast, separate discount benefits for the Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra are limited.

The adjustment also highlighted differences in pricing strategy by product. Smartphones kept base-model prices unchanged while raising only higher storage tiers, while tablets rose across all capacity tiers, changing the overall pricing structure.

The industry sees this price adjustment as something that could affect pricing for future new products. Some also raise the possibility that higher-end models of the next Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8 could be priced higher from launch.

Separately, the price hikes appear to stem from a global memory shortage, with rising prices for RAM and NAND flash affecting SSD manufacturing and being reflected in Samsung product prices. Around the same time, Samsung also raised prices for the Galaxy Book 6 Pro and Galaxy Book 6 Ultra, and Microsoft applied price increases to its Surface Pro and Surface Laptop lineup.
