Moves by various companies toward so-called agentic ERP, which combines ERP and AI agents, are becoming more concrete. ERP developers are accelerating efforts to mix AI agents into existing ERP. Companies without ERP are speeding up the provision of AI agents that businesses can use more easily on their existing ERP.
Rimini Street, a global company that provides enterprise software maintenance services, has also moved into attack mode by making agentic ERP a core business for 2026. In line with its maintenance business DNA, it is focusing on supporting companies so they can use agentic ERP cost-effectively on their existing ERP. It is also highlighting differentiation from SAP, which leads the global ERP market.
Lee Yong-haeng (이용행), executive director at Rimini Street Korea, stressed that there is no need to upgrade an ERP system just to use AI agents. He said the core strategy is to enable companies using SAP ERP to use AI agents without changing their systems.
Rimini Street formed an alliance with ServiceNow, a cloud-based enterprise software company, to target the agentic ERP market. ServiceNow provides the platform on which AI agents run, and Rimini Street is responsible for optimising it and providing it to companies.
"We will support agentic AI innovation for companies using existing ERP"
Lee said ServiceNow, led by Bill McDermott, a former SAP CEO, has strong process automation capabilities, which are also seen as an important element in ERP. For Rimini Street, which needed a more future-oriented business beyond maintenance services, ServiceNow is an ideal win-win partner, he said.
Rimini Street has stepped up its agentic ERP business since last year and expects this year to be the first year of producing results. As part of behind-the-scenes work, it conducted free proof-of-concept (PoC) projects for agentic ERP for 26 customers across countries last year, including 2 South Korean companies. Through this, it completed agentic ERP templates tailored to 24 tasks. Its goal this year is to distribute as many of those templates as possible.
Lee said the company is focusing on providing customised templates so companies using ERP can use agentic functions by leveraging ServiceNow tools. He said it is encouraging customers to start with a pilot, rather than adopt it on a large scale at once, and expand if it works. He added that it is also offering an "Explorer Pack", a "taster" programme, for that purpose. Lee said the goal this year is to provide as many Explorer Packs as possible. He said that, in meetings with customers, there are not yet many ideas about how to improve ERP with AI, so the company is explaining, with case-based examples, that various things can be done with AI. He stressed that it will produce solid cases this year.
For companies using ERP, adopting agentic ERP means paying additional costs for AI. Lee said costs will rise if AI agents are introduced, but the key is satisfaction. He said agentic ERP will deliver an effect that greatly improves the ERP user experience.
Lee expects major changes in ERP user interfaces through agentic ERP. As the trend of using ERP with AI spreads among corporate users, ERP applications themselves will take on a stronger character as systems of record that store data, and platforms capable of orchestrating AI functions will become important, he said. Lee said such changes are not bad for Rimini Street. He said the company plans to expand into other applications involving processes, such as CRM, while focusing on providing agentic functions for SAP ERP.
