Andy Schectman (앤디 셱트먼), a precious metals investment expert and CEO of Miles Franklin, said he personally holds XRP and described it as an asset in a “high-risk investment” area.

The Crypto Basic reported on March 24 that Schectman, in a recent interview, classified XRP as a “speculative asset” positioned at the top of his investment portfolio. “I don’t fully understand it, but I believe in it enough to allocate some capital,” he said. “It was a small weighting, but the performance was quite good,” he added.

He described his investment strategy as a “pyramid structure.” About 60 percent of his total assets is allocated to low-risk, capital-preservation investments such as gold, real estate and cash. He invests 30 percent in stable-income assets such as bonds and dividend stocks. The remaining 10 percent is allocated to high-risk, high-return assets such as cryptocurrencies and mining stocks, and XRP is included in that segment.

According to Schectman, that top 10 percent segment is the most volatile, but it can also be a game changer that can determine overall portfolio returns. He stressed that gains from this part can outperform the performance of the other 90 percent of the portfolio. He added, however, that investors should be wary of expanding the weighting too much.

Schectman also assessed that XRP’s long-term success depends on adoption by financial institutions. “If banks accept it, it will succeed,” he said, adding that expanding real-world use cases is a key variable.

Even so, he maintained a cautious stance on digital assets. He said it is difficult to have complete confidence given their complex structure and high uncertainty compared with traditional assets such as gold.

The market interprets Schectman’s remarks as an example of “conditional optimism” about XRP. The view is that he acknowledged the high potential returns while making clear it should be managed with a limited weighting in a portfolio.

Schectman has expressed an optimistic view on XRP before. He previously said in commentary with Versan Aljarrah of Black Swan Capitalist that XRP is a potential path for even low-capital investors to accumulate significant wealth.
