Foblgate said on March 17 that Chief Executive Ahn Hyun-joon (안현준) visited Cambodia on March 13 and discussed key strategies for Cambodia's digital finance innovation.
He met Sou Socheat (수 소치엇), chairman of the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC), which performs a role similar to South Korea's financial authorities. They discussed guidelines for operating a digital asset exchange and VASP licences within the institutional framework.
Sou said he welcomed South Korean innovative technology companies' entry into Cambodia's digital industry.
He said Cambodia's government is actively pursuing the digital economy and financial innovation. He said he hoped investment and cooperation by related companies would expand, and stressed that he would not spare the necessary support so such projects can proceed smoothly.
Ahn also met Thong Chenda (쏭 첸다), chairman of the Telecommunications Regulator of Cambodia (TRC), and shared information on the status of telecommunications infrastructure and security regulations that underpin digital financial services. They discussed related policy measures.
The TRC officially launched Cambodia's first 5G service on Jan. 1, 2026. It is continuing to expand infrastructure around major cities including Phnom Penh.
Ahn said, "Through in-depth talks with Cambodian government authorities, we laid the groundwork for 'compliance-based digital finance' to take hold as a standard in the local market." He added, "We will strengthen our position as a key technology partner driving Cambodia's digital finance innovation."
