Microsoft is moving the venue for its annual Build developer conference from Seattle to San Francisco and will scale it down.

According to The Verge, this year's Build conference will be held at Fort Mason in San Francisco from June 2 to 3 local time, and will be reduced to 2,500 from the previous 3,000 to 5,000. Build has been held in May, but will take place in June this year.

The number of participants has also been reduced. Microsoft plans to invite 2,500 developers to this year's Build. That is a smaller scale given that 3,000 to 5,000 people attended Build in the past.

GitHub Chief Operating Officer Kyle Daigle (카일 데이글) said, "We wanted to create a structure where attendees can listen to the keynote, try things hands-on in the demo space, and interact more with each other."

Microsoft's position on holding Build in San Francisco is that it will use it as an opportunity to change the nature of the event, not simply a change of venue. Build has had a heavy emphasis on Windows-related announcements. There was also a significant amount that was not directly related to developers. Daigle said, "We will focus on showing what we built, what developers built on top of it, and how they can use it."

Participation by outside speakers has also increased. Datasette founder Simon Willison (사이먼 윌리슨), AI engineer Shawn Wang (션 왕), and Priyanka Sharma (프리얀카 샤르마) of Thiink are among those leading sessions. From Microsoft, Chief Executive Satya Nadella (사티아 나델라), GitHub Vice President Jared Palmer (재러드 팔머), and Scott Hanselman (스콧 핸셀만), vice president of the developer community, will take part.
