Tom Lee endorsed a post by Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ), showing optimism about the crypto market.
On Sept. 30, blockchain outlet U.Today reported that Lee shared Zhao's post, which included a green-toned selfie and the words "Soon...". Lee replied, "agree. do you own enough crypto".
The market has increasingly interpreted Zhao's post as hinting at an October bull run or a rise in Binance Coin (BNB). Lee added a question asking investors about their crypto allocation. He also said at Korea Blockchain Week in Seoul that a bull cycle is gaining momentum on demand for artificial intelligence (AI) systems and kept his bitcoin target at $150,000.
Alongside this optimism, attention has also turned to Bitmine's ethereum buying. Bitmine is close to meeting the goal of its "5% Alchemy" accumulation programme launched in the summer of 2025. The company said its ethereum holdings amount to about 4.9% of total supply, putting progress at 98% of its target. Its plan to secure 5% of total supply is effectively entering the final stage.
Bitmine is also pursuing a strategy to generate returns by deploying the ethereum it has secured. It said it has staked 5,067,000 ETH, about 84% of its total holdings, and is generating annual profits of several hundred million dollars from it.
Zhao's post itself did not include any specific outlook or price target. He only attached the short phrase "Soon..." to a green-toned selfie. The market took it as a positive signal, but Zhao has previously drawn a line, telling people not to look for hidden financial advice in his posts.
Major cryptocurrencies posted a relatively steady rise over the past month. As of late September, bitcoin traded around $83,300, ethereum around $2,698 and BNB around $757. Their gains over the past 30 days were 7 to 11 percent, and the market entered October amid a gentle uptrend.
The market is also approaching Oct. 10, when large-scale liquidations occurred last year. On that day last year, liquidations totalled $19 billion, setting what was then a record high. That is why expectations for a bull market are accompanied by lingering caution about market structures that triggered a past plunge.
These remarks need to be viewed not only in terms of the meaning embedded in a short post, but also alongside actual capital allocation. As Lee asked again about crypto holdings, Bitmine has continued buying to secure 5% of ethereum supply and has put a substantial amount into staking. That is why his message is being read as aligning with corporate strategies that combine large spot holdings with profit generation, beyond simple optimism.
