A batch of 600 bitcoin that had not moved for 14.2 years has been transferred again. At current prices, the holding is worth about $51.15 million, or about 69.1 billion won.

Blockchain outlet U.Today reported on Sept. 22 that the move was spotted as bitcoin remained strong after a recent broad breakout in crypto market prices.

Whale Alert on-chain tracking data showed the coins were activated from a long-untouched address. Market participants are focusing on the movement of a large holding that had been dormant for 14.2 years.

The bitcoins fall into the category of so-called “Satoshi era bitcoin,” an early tranche of holdings. The outlet said the address appears to have accumulated the coins when bitcoin was in its early stages and traded at very low prices. That has prompted speculation in the market that old funds may be returning to the bitcoin market.

The move does not necessarily mean an imminent sale. Market participants say activation of long-dormant holdings often leads to profit-taking, but there is no basis yet to conclude that in this case. U.Today also noted, “A sudden activation does not mean the holder is preparing to sell.”

The transfer route is also being interpreted cautiously. Based on what has been confirmed so far, there is no sign the coins were sent to an exchange. The outlet said, “It may have been moved from the original wallet to another wallet.” It could mean a repositioning for security reasons or a change in storage method.

Even so, the reason the market is reacting sensitively is clear. Early bitcoin wallets carry weight both in terms of supply pressure and symbolism. When long-sleeping holdings awaken, it can become a variable for investor sentiment regardless of whether an actual sale follows. With recent price gains tilting the market mood bullish, such moves are drawing greater attention.

The case shows that movements of early-held coins are coming back into focus during the recent bull market. For now, the confirmed facts are that 600 bitcoin moved for the first time in 14.2 years and there is still no sign of inflows to an exchange. The market is watching next for whether the coins are further dispersed and whether that leads to an actual selling trend.
