Mastercard AI payment network adds Ripple as XRP is left out and RLUSD takes center stage

Mastercard has launched a new program for autonomous payments between artificial intelligence agents, with Ripple positioning the XRP Ledger and its regulated stablecoin RLUSD as key infrastructure. More than 30 companies including Stripe, Coinbase and OKX are participating. Ripple said XRPL and RLUSD support robot digital passport verification and transaction limit controls. XRP was not mentioned in Mastercard’s enterprise pilot, while RippleX promoted tools that use XRP directly in AI commerce.

AllUnity to issue SEKAU Swedish krona-pegged stablecoin

AllUnity, a European regulated stablecoin issuer backed by DWS, Flow Traders and Galaxy, will issue SEKAU, a stablecoin pegged to the Swedish krona. SEKAU will be backed 1:1 by Swedish krona reserves and issued as a regulated e-money token under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). Holders will have a legal right to redeem at par. The token is designed for institutions, fintechs and corporates, with a June launch planned.

Fireblocks launches AI agent payment support, joins x402 Foundation

Digital asset platform Fireblocks has launched an AI agent payments infrastructure product called Agentic Payments Suite and joined the x402 Foundation, Cointelegraph reported on Tuesday. The full-stack solution is designed to support Coinbase\'s x402 protocol. It supports the entire AI agent payment process, including wallet infrastructure for sending funds, a merchant receiving layer and compliance and settlement functions for regulated financial institutions.
