Ripple teams up with Stripe-owned Privy to add AI auto-payments to XRPL, tops 13 million

Ripple is working with Stripe-owned wallet infrastructure company Privy to introduce AI-based payments and embedded wallet functions on the XRP Ledger. The integration lets developers build payment apps using XRP and Ripple USD without users managing private keys. The collaboration centres on agentic commerce and the x402 open payments protocol for automated software-to-software payments. Ripple said AI agents have processed about 13 million payments on XRPL, about 25 percent of network activity.

AI payments spread, but refunds and liability debates loom

AI agents are beginning to pay for products and services online, but questions remain over who decides refunds and resolves disputes after transactions. Amazon’s Bedrock AgentCore Payments uses Coinbase and Stripe infrastructure to support agent payments within preset limits. Regulators such as the Reserve Bank of Australia have raised concerns about unclear responsibility when agents exceed authority. Complaints and chargebacks are rising, while some see opportunities for smaller merchants.

XRPL expands AI agent payment network; cumulative total tops 13 million

XRP Ledger’s x402-based agentic payments have topped 13.41 million in cumulative transactions. RippleX engineering head J. Ayo Akinyele posted the latest figures on X, saying the total could reach 100 million sooner than the XRP community expects if the current trend continues. Data account t54 put the total at 13,417,943, with a seven-day daily average of 216,145. Active agents, x402 merchants and payable services also increased.
