Kakao Games sets rebound push with five new games, targets return to profit in Q1 2027

Kakao Games is reorganising non-core businesses under a new co-CEO structure and concentrating on launching five new titles. The company reported second-quarter revenue of 75 billion won and an operating loss of 23 billion won, with revenue down year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter. It sees sales bottoming in the second and third quarters, expects a meaningful rebound from the fourth quarter, and aims to turn profitable in the first quarter of next year.

KakaoGames to develop new title using The Greem Entertainment webtoon IP

KakaoGames said on Monday it will work with webtoon production company The Greem Entertainment to develop new titles using popular webtoon intellectual property. The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding covering game production using the IP and cooperation on global services. KakaoGames secured rights to convert The Greem Entertainment’s comics and webtoon lineup into game content and plans to expand services targeting the global market.

Galaxy Z8 sets record with 1.44 million preorders in South Korea

Samsung Electronics\' new foldable smartphone Galaxy Z8 series set a record for Galaxy smartphone preorders in South Korea. The company said the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8 sold a total of 1.44 million units in domestic preorders over seven days from July 28 to Aug. 3. That surpassed the previous high of 1.38 million set by the Galaxy Note10 in 2019. Samsung said demand was driven by younger buyers, more women customers and preorder benefits.
