LG Energy Solution, KOSMES open call for battery startups

LG Energy Solution is launching an open innovation programme with the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency to find promising Korean small and venture firms in the battery sector. Applications will be accepted through June 12 at 6 p.m. The call covers four areas, including defect detection, real-time battery diagnosis and prediction, next-generation processes and equipment, and reducing battery cell resistance. Selected firms will receive PoC opportunities, potential equity investment and policy programme support.

IBK Industrial Bank of Korea to hold \'IBK KOSDAQ Boom Up Day\' to support KOSDAQ revitalisation

IBK Industrial Bank of Korea is launching an investor relations support event to link listed companies and investors to help revitalise the KOSDAQ market and strengthen funding foundations for small and venture firms. The bank said it held the \'IBK KOSDAQ Boom Up Day\' on May 12 to ease information asymmetry. It plans to expand IR opportunities and encourage research reports to lift market trust.

Synthetic biology promotion act takes effect, launching full-lifecycle support system

South Korea has put into force a law designed to systematically foster synthetic biology, the Ministry of Science and ICT said on April 23. The law sets rules for promoting research and development and for safety management, including five-year basic plans and annual implementation plans. It also allows the designation of R&D hub institutions and the establishment of a public biofoundry, with procedures, fees and emergency provisions. The act also provides a basis for joint use of research data.
