SBI, Yoshimoto plan joint venture to pair Japanese content with financial technology

Japan\'s financial group SBI Holdings is moving to target the global content market with major entertainment company Yoshimoto Kogyo Holdings. The companies agreed in principle on a strategic partnership and to set up a joint venture to plan and develop original intellectual property and invest in production. They also plan to use a 100 billion yen SBI Neo Content Fund and explore fundraising using digital securities and security tokens, though details were not disclosed.

Circle executive says Germany\'s 50 percent crypto tax plan would hit retail investors hard

Concerns are growing that Germany’s proposed overhaul of cryptocurrency taxation could increase burdens on retail investors. A draft would apply a 50 percent taxation benchmark based on an assumption that an asset’s value doubled when investors cannot prove the acquisition price. Circle executive Patrick Hansen said the rule would be especially unfavorable for consumers who are unaware of the change or cannot document cost basis. The plan would apply to crypto acquired after Dec. 31, 2026.

Koscom, Hyundai Motor Securities cooperate on security token platform business

Koscom said on Tuesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with Hyundai Motor Securities on joint use of a security token platform and broader business cooperation. The agreement covers system links for Koscom’s shared platform, development of underlying assets and products, detailed issuance and account-management processes, joint tests reflecting legal and investor-protection requirements, and information exchanges to help expand the market. Hyundai Motor Securities’ participation lifts the number of partner brokerages to 13.
