MSIT to name \'rising star\' research institute companies with stage-based support

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT will push ahead with a 2026 programme to designate outstanding research institute companies by growth stage, it said on Tuesday. The ministry will classify firms as \'rising star\' or \'star\' and provide tailored support such as commercialisation-linked R&D, intellectual property consulting, follow-on investment links and overseas investor briefings. It will accept applications through Oct. 2 and award certificates in December.

Shinhan Bank, Seocho-gu, Seoul credit guarantee foundation cooperate to support growth of AI, ICT firms

Shinhan Bank will work with Seoul\'s Seocho-gu district and the Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation to support AI and ICT companies in the Seocho area with financing, guarantees, consulting and investment links. The three parties signed a comprehensive agreement on Sept. 7. The plan covers support by growth stage, from identifying firms to credit guarantees, financial consultations, management consulting and investment connections. They also plan joint briefings, consultations, IR and training programmes.

Korea Fintech Industry Association, XRPL Korea to support commercialisation of digital asset businesses

The Korea Fintech Industry Association said it signed an agreement with XRPL Korea on Aug. 20 to help domestic fintech firms identify and commercialise new digital asset-based businesses. The two plan joint programmes focused on payments, remittances and settlement, stablecoins, tokenisation of real-world assets and digital asset financial infrastructure. They will support idea verification, proof-of-concept work and service implementation, and may link follow-up cooperation with global XRPL networks and financial institutions.
