User protection assessment for telecoms and platforms to focus on actual harm

South Korea\'s Korea Communications Commission will assess how telecommunications companies and online platforms protect users, tightening evaluation standards for operators that cause real harm. The panel expanded deductions linked to administrative penalties such as fines and corrective orders and raised deductions tied to recent social issues involving user damage. It will also add open-ended questions to a user satisfaction survey to reflect users\' views on harm and recovery and increase related scoring.

Inter-agency task force launched to tackle AI-related crime; 10 agencies join

A South Korean inter-agency consultative body has officially launched to respond to crimes abusing AI, including deepfake sexual exploitation, false or unfair AI advertising and AI financial fraud. The Korea Communications Commission said it held a kickoff meeting on June 26 to discuss a comprehensive plan to eradicate AI crime and measures to build an integrated response system. Ten agencies are participating, including the science ministry, justice ministry, financial regulator, police and others.

Hana Bank to support management solutions for 1,300 small businesses

Hana Bank will run a support programme aimed at easing management burdens and strengthening sales competitiveness for small businesses. The bank will recruit applicants for three weeks from June 11 and select 1,300 business sites. It will support purchases of energy-efficient equipment for 1,000 sites, offering up to 2 million won per site, and provide solutions to help 300 sites expand online sales channels, including platform entry, live commerce and crowdfunding support.
