Up to 6 percent fines on illegal spam sales take effect Oct 1
A system to impose fines of up to 6 percent of related sales on illegal spam senders and businesses that neglect prevention obligations will take effect next month. The Broadcasting Media and Communications Commission approved a revised enforcement decree and a related notice setting detailed measures for information and communications service providers. Fines will range from 1 to 6 percent, with benchmark amounts of 100 million to 2 billion won when sales are hard to calculate.

FCC considers scorecard grading U.S. carriers on illegal spam call blocking
The U.S. Federal Communications Commission is moving to introduce a scorecard to assess telecom companies\' performance in blocking illegal spam calls. The plan would evaluate not only whether carriers followed related rules but also how many illegal robocalls they actually stopped. The FCC has begun soliciting public comment on metrics and display methods, including numeric scores, A to F grades and risk categories, while considering data sources and how to reflect reliability and carrier size.

Voice phishing measures cut cases and losses by about 40 percent
South Korea\'s government said voice phishing cases and losses fell for 10 straight months after it rolled out a comprehensive crackdown plan. Cases from October to July dropped 39.9 percent to 12,554, while losses fell 43.2 percent to 632.4 billion won. Authorities cited emergency blocking of scam numbers within 10 minutes, an AI platform for sharing suspicious information, expanded reporting operations and stronger investigations and international cooperation.
