Apple overhauls iPhone release cycle for first time in 7 years
Apple has made a major change to its iPhone release cycle by not unveiling the standard iPhone 18 at its fall product event, the first overhaul in seven years. CNBC reported the company introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max and its first foldable iPhone Duo. The shift has drawn attention as a possible move to launch premium models in fall and regular models in spring, smoothing revenue seasonality and easing supply chain pressures.

iPhone 15 still current, but a question mark for buying new now
The iPhone 15 will be eligible for iOS 27, but it is not seen as especially attractive to buy new in 2026, a review said. Engadget assessed that the iPhone 17e could be a better overall choice. While the iPhone 15 has a dual rear camera and continues to be discounted, similar pricing for the newer iPhone 17e can weaken the case for the older model. Carrier pricing can even reverse the usual expectations.

Apple releases iOS 27 developer beta 5, changes include new icons and Siri voices
Apple has released developer beta 5 of iOS 27. Developers can install it through the Settings app by selecting iOS 27 Developer Beta under Beta Updates. The update changes icons for Safari, Siri, Remote and Preview, and further refines other icons to match the Liquid Glass design. Siri adds new enhanced voices for U.K. English, bringing the total to 11 adjustable voices, and search settings gain a new “Before Search” section.
