Adam Back says Satoshi documentary lacks evidence, early mining data cannot pinpoint identity

Adam Back, known as an early bitcoin developer, rejected key claims in a documentary on Satoshi Nakamoto’s bitcoin holdings and identity. He said the so-called Patoshi pattern used to infer early mining activity has major flaws and cannot reliably separate Satoshi’s blocks from others as mining became distributed. Back also said there is no proof Satoshi never sold. He criticised the documentary’s shifting suspects and cited technical and timeline issues surrounding candidates including Hal Finney and Len Sassaman.

Uzbekistan to build crypto mining valley near Kazakhstan border, tax exemptions until 2035

Uzbekistan plans to set up a special crypto mining zone in the Karakalpakstan Autonomous Republic and give tenant companies tax exemptions until Jan. 1, 2035. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree establishing the Beskala Mining Valley near the Kazakhstan border. Tenant miners will have unrestricted access to Uzbekistan’s unified power grid, with additional power supplied by a hydrogen power plant to be built in Karakalpakstan. Companies must obtain a licence from the National Agency for Perspective Projects.

Bitcoin miners shaken by worsening profitability as bitcoin selling surges

Listed bitcoin mining firms sold more than 32,000 BTC in the first quarter of 2026, exceeding the total sold in all of 2025, Cointelegraph reported. Mining profitability has deteriorated, with hashprice falling below $35 per PH/s per day, near a break-even level for many operators. Industry reserves have declined to about 1.8 million BTC. CoinShares expects further capitulation by high-cost miners if prices do not recover.
