BASF subsidiary trinamiX sues Apple over alleged iPhone Face ID patent infringement
German chemical company BASF\'s subsidiary trinamiX has filed a lawsuit in the United States alleging Apple\'s Face ID facial recognition system infringes its patents. The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas in Midland, covers seven U.S. patents related to technology that distinguishes skin and material properties during facial authentication. trinamiX seeks damages and an injunction, while Apple has not issued an official response.

NH NongHyup Bank pilots \'AI Smart Pad\' at 100 branches nationwide
NH NongHyup Bank has piloted an integrated authentication terminal, the \'AI Smart Pad\', at 100 branches nationwide, using AI facial authentication technology. The bank said on Aug. 24 the rollout aims to improve customer convenience and strengthen security. The device upgrades PIN pad password entry functions and verifies customer identity in face-to-face transactions requiring real-name checks. It also includes a universal scanner that recognises various ID formats, including passports.

Hancom With to supply facial authentication solution Hancom Auth to NH NongHyup Property and Casualty Insurance
Hancom With, which serves as the holding company of the Hancom Group, said on Tuesday it signed a contract to supply its facial authentication solution Hancom Auth to NH NongHyup Property and Casualty Insurance. The company said it has expanded its customer base after supplying the product to Woori Investment & Securities in the second half of 2025 and to remittance specialist E9pay in the first half of 2026. Hancom Auth is used for eKYC in non-face-to-face financial services.
