South Korea\'s KOSPI returned above the 7,000 level for the first time in four sessions, lifted by a sharp rise in U.S. semiconductor shares and buying by foreign and institutional investors. The benchmark was up 5.68 percent at 7,130.95 as of 9:04 a.m. A buy sidecar was triggered in the main board market at 9:06 a.m., the second straight trading day, halting program buy orders for five minutes.

South Korea\'s KOSPI climbed more than 3 percent on Tuesday, supported by a rebound in heavyweight semiconductor stocks and buying by institutions and foreign investors. A buy-sidecar was triggered during the session as volatility remained high. Institutions and foreigners were net buyers, while individuals sold. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix rose. The Kosdaq also edged higher. The won ended stronger against the dollar in Seoul trading.
