Kakao steps up AI ethics governance, launches external advisory panel

Kakao said on Wednesday it has launched an external advisory panel under its AI and technology ethics subcommittee to strengthen its AI ethics governance. The move aims to pre-empt potential social risks from the spread of agentic AI and to establish internal policies in line with fast-changing domestic and international environments, including Korea’s AI basic law and global AI safety regulation. The panel consists of seven external experts spanning academia, law and an international organisation.

FSC launches private advisory panel to counter AI security threats, to review network segmentation

South Korea\'s Financial Services Commission on Sunday launched a private-sector technical advisory panel to respond to security threats linked to high-performance artificial intelligence. The panel held its first meeting with officials from the Financial Supervisory Service and the Financial Security Institute. It will review expected risks, policy and institutional measures, and steps to strengthen security frameworks, including detailed reviews of easing network segmentation rules. It will also assess financial firms\' readiness for AI security testing.

KT sets up personal information protection advisory committee, shifts to preemptive prevention

KT said on Wednesday it will set up a Personal Information Protection Advisory Committee to respond to changes in the personal data processing environment, restore customer trust and build a responsible data use ecosystem. The company said the body is a strategic governance initiative to strengthen a preemptive, prevention-focused personal information management system. KT said it has appointed outside experts as inaugural advisers and plans to continue expanding the committee.
