KT selected three candidates for its next chief executive.
The KT board nominating committee said on December 9 it narrowed the field after reviewing documents and conducting online interviews with internal and external candidates submitted by November 16.
The committee conducted the document review and online interviews based on requirements in the articles of association, including management expertise, industry expertise, leadership and communication skills.
KT said it reviewed the submitted documents and assessments from an external advisory panel and held detailed discussions. The committee chose Park Yun-young, former head of KT’s enterprise division with the title of president, Joo Hyung-chul, former SK Communications chief and former presidential economic adviser, and Hong Won-pyo, former SK Shieldus chief, as candidates for in-depth interviews.
Kim Yong-heon, chair of the KT board nominating committee, said, “We deeply appreciate everyone who took part in the CEO selection process,” and added it plans to hold in-depth interviews with the three candidates and choose the final nominee within the year.
KT is expected to select the candidate to be recommended to the shareholders meeting at a board meeting on December 16. The nominee will be formally appointed as KT’s new chief at the regular shareholders meeting in March 2026.
