YouTube eases eligibility for shopping affiliate programme from 500 subscribers

YouTube said on March 30 it will ease eligibility requirements for its YouTube Shopping Affiliate Programme to support early creator growth and diversify revenue models. Creators in the YouTube Partner Program with at least 500 subscribers can join. Eligible creators can tag brand products in Shorts, standard videos and live streams, allowing viewers to click and purchase on smartphones or TVs. YouTube cited examples of channels reporting higher shopping-related revenue shares after adoption.

Netflix, YouTube tighten controls on AI-generated content to address copyright, low-quality videos

South Korea\'s Korea Information Society Development Institute said it published a report comparing Netflix and YouTube policies for managing generative AI content. It said Netflix issued guidelines for production partners, outlining five core principles including copyright protection and performer rights. It said YouTube has required disclosure of AI-generated or altered content since May 2025, with possible sanctions for non-compliance, and introduced monetisation limits for mass-produced AI content.
