Samsung SDI unveils first cylindrical LFP battery, targets AI data centres

Samsung SDI on Sept. 29 unveiled its battery product lineup for AI data centres for the first time at Data Centre World Asia 2026 in Singapore. It set up four exhibition zones covering UPS, BBU, SBB and cells. The company said its UPS met all criteria in a large-scale indoor fire test hosted by UL Solutions, the first UPS solution globally to do so. It also introduced a cylindrical lithium iron phosphate battery for the first time.

Samsung SDI becomes first to prove fire safety of UPS batteries worldwide

Samsung SDI said on Monday its uninterruptible power supply batteries became the first in the world to meet all evaluation criteria in an indoor large-scale fire test overseen by certification body UL Solutions. The test checks whether a fire in a battery module spreads to adjacent racks or systems. Samsung SDI said the ignited module burned out but caused no fire spread, gas release, explosion or rupture, and self-extinguished without sprinklers.

Samsung Display QD-OLED wins certified wide viewing-angle verification

Samsung Display said on Tuesday its QD-OLED lineup for TVs and monitors completed UL Solutions\' QuantumView viewing-angle evaluation. The test measures changes in luminance and color coordinates from the front out to 60 degrees. Samsung Display said QD-OLED products showed at least 60 percent luminance retention and color coordinate change of 0.012 or less at 60 degrees. It attributed the results to its front-emission structure and quantum-dot Lambertian emission characteristics.
