Nvidia rivals emerge as AI chip dominance war heats up
Nvidia remains the dominant player in the artificial intelligence chip market, but a growing number of challengers are emerging from Big Tech, startups and established semiconductor companies. Business Insider reported that Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Meta are expanding in-house chip efforts and related partnerships. Startups such as Groq, Cerebras, SambaNova and Tenstorrent are gaining visibility through investment and cooperation. China, led by Huawei, is also pushing self-reliance, while AMD, Intel and Broadcom are stepping up competition.

Cadence unveils ChipStack AI super agent stack for semiconductor design
Cadence Design Systems has unveiled ChipStack, an AI “super agent” aimed at semiconductor design and verification, SiliconANGLE reported on Monday. The company says the system can raise chip design engineer productivity by 10 times, supporting tasks from code writing to testbench generation, regression testing coordination, debugging and automatic fixes. It positions ChipStack as an orchestrator across IP design, verification and system-on-chip integration. It can be deployed in cloud, hybrid or on-premises environments.

KoAsia Semi to supply AI chiplets worth 14 billion won
KoAsia Semi has signed a contract with Tenstorrent to mass-produce AI chiplets, the company said on Jan. 7. The agreement follows a chiplet development deal for Tenstorrent’s AI processor signed in late 2024 and shifts the project to mass production after design completion. KoAsia Semi said it expects more than 14 billion won in revenue. Tenstorrent CEO Jim Keller and KoAsia Semi CEO Shin Dong-su both said cooperation will expand and follow-on development will begin soon.
