Tempo secures Deel as first customer for Zones privacy system

Stablecoin payments blockchain Tempo has secured payroll platform Deel as the first real-world customer for its privacy system, Zones. Deel can use Zones to prevent outsiders from seeing how much contractors were paid and what they currently hold. Deposits made by Deel into its Zones remain visible on a public network, but contractor-level balances are not disclosed. Contractors can view only their own balances, while Deel retains access for settlement and audits.

USDC for payments, USDT for savings: Standard Chartered on stablecoin battleground

Standard Chartered forecasts the stablecoin market will reach $2 trillion by 2030, pushing back its earlier timeline by 2 years after this year’s market stagnated near $309 billion. It said trading activity is rising even without a big increase in total market value, as existing supply turns over more frequently. The bank sees USDT leading savings demand in emerging markets and USDC leading payments in advanced economies, with regulation, reserve-income sharing and accounting changes shaping competition.

U.S. move to recognise stablecoins as cash equivalents may lower barriers for corporate use

A proposed accounting overhaul by the U.S. Financial Accounting Standards Board could allow stablecoins meeting certain conditions to be classified as cash equivalents on company financial statements, potentially easing corporate adoption. Blockchain firm Tempo said the change could reduce accounting burdens tied to liquidity ratios and lending covenants. The proposal would require firms to hold direct redemption rights against issuers. FASB is taking public comments through Nov. 19 and has not set an effective date.
