Jung Yong-jin to take CEO roles at E-Mart and Shinsegae Property as registered director
Shinsegae Group Chairman Jung Yong-jin (정용진) will directly lead two key affiliates, E-Mart and Shinsegae Property, the group said on June 8. Shinsegae Property will recommend Jung as a registered director and complete his appointment through a shareholders meeting and a board vote. E-Mart plans to name him a co-CEO and confirm the appointment at next year’s shareholders meeting. Jung said he would accept clear accountability and be evaluated by the board and shareholders.

Starbucks Korea temporarily eases card balance refund criteria
Starbucks Korea will temporarily ease its refund criteria for Starbucks Card balances for two weeks from June 1 to June 14. Customers can request refunds without meeting the previous requirement to use at least 60 percent of the most recent top-up amount. Requests made through the Starbucks app will be processed within seven business days, up to a maximum balance of 2 million won per account. Unregistered physical cards can be refunded in stores.

Shinsegae chairman Chung Yong-jin apologises to public over Starbucks controversy
Chung Yong-jin (정용진), chairman of Shinsegae Group, issued a public apology over a Starbucks Korea marketing controversy. He apologised to families of the May 18 Democratic Uprising, the family of activist Park Jong-chul, citizens of Gwangju and the public. Shinsegae had already dismissed Starbucks Korea CEO Son Jeong-hyeon and an executive. Chung said he would accept full responsibility, order an investigation and disclose results, overhaul marketing reviews across affiliates and conduct history and ethics training for staff.
