Starbucks deploys mobile cafe to support heatwave-vulnerable groups
Starbucks has deployed a mobile coffee trailer to support vulnerable groups amid a continuing heatwave. Starbucks Korea said on Thursday it is carrying out community activities such as delivering iced drinks and cooling supplies. It donated 50 million won to the Korea Council on Social Welfare for heat-season support programmes. The company also visited welfare centres and workplaces in July, providing coffee and other items, and plans to expand a customer-participation campaign using the trailer.

IBM CEO says only 2 percent of software will be replaced by AI, seeks to calm market after weak results
IBM played down market concerns that generative AI will threaten its software business, saying only about 2 percent of its software could be replaced by AI and most products support customers’ AI use. CEO Arvind Krishna said IBM’s software enables real-time data use and lowers data-management costs. IBM shares are down about 30 percent this year. The company cited a mainframe slowdown and lowered its software growth outlook to 6 to 8 percent.

SpaceX alumni startup Terrafirma raises $115 million for remote construction equipment
Terrafirma, a construction technology startup founded by former SpaceX engineers, has raised $115 million, CNBC reported. Investors include Kleiner Perkins, Bain Capital Ventures, SpaceX, Anduril and Hadrian. The Austin, Texas-based company is developing technology to remotely operate construction equipment using interfaces including an Xbox controller. It says the technology reduces costs and improves safety, and its long-term goal is building infrastructure on Mars.
