SK Telecom said on Wednesday it has prepared services and benefits for May, designated as family month, ranging from phone gifting to artificial intelligence (AI) security services that can be used in daily life.

Ahead of Children’s Day on May 5, SKT proposed “family phone sharing” as a flagship family service. Family phone sharing is a free add-on service available when parents pass down a device they used to a child aged 13 or under.

Customers can sign up through the T World website and app, SKT retail stores and the 114 customer service center until Aug. 10. The service is available even if it is not the child’s first phone activation. Customers who sign up, as the legal guardian, receive for 1 year a monthly 2GB data coupon, unlimited free family roaming uses, and up to 6 discounts of 50 percent on T Universe Pass (Olive Young, Starbucks and Emart24) subscription fees.

When visiting parents on Parents’ Day, customers may also look to the “family care” feature in the A.dot phone service. The feature sends an immediate alert to up to 10 pre-registered guardians if AI detects suspicious signs of voice phishing during a call. For guardians who have installed A.dot Phone, both a push notification and text message are sent, while those without the app receive a text message alert.

For family customers planning overseas travel using the early May holiday stretch, SKT’s roaming benefits may be useful.

When traveling overseas, if one family member subscribes to the baro plan and adds 3,000 won to join the family roaming service, up to 5 family members including the subscriber can share roaming data. All family members included in family roaming also receive free baro calls and texts using A.dot Phone.

Long-term customers who have used SKT for more than 10 years can apply for a chance to enter the “T long-term customer forest camp day” event. Forest camp day consists of various programs at Everland’s Forest Camp, including forest walks, children’s forest experiences and family recreation. Customers who want to enter can apply through the T long-term customer menu in the T Membership app until May 5.

An SKT official said, “We prepared these benefits for family month to provide practical convenience that customers can feel in daily life.” The official added, “We will continue to introduce various services and benefits that support customers’ lives.”
