SKT builds 5G private network at Hana Financial\'s Cheongna site to shift workplace to wireless

SK Telecom has built a 5G private network-based smart office with Hana Financial Group and Samsung Electronics, the first such deployment in South Korea’s financial sector. SKT said it has begun full-scale operations at Hana Financial’s Cheongna headquarters in Incheon. The network uses Hana Financial’s dedicated spectrum allocation and separates the environment from external networks. It allows access only for registered work devices and users through secure SIM-based authentication.

South Korea to hold talks with budget mobile operators on \'Budget Mobile 2.0\' rollout

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT will meet budget mobile operators on Sept. 30 in Seoul to discuss ways to revitalise the market and follow up on its \'Budget Mobile 2.0\' measures. The ministry plans to review on-the-ground effects of the policy and hear industry difficulties and additional reform needs. Agenda items are expected to include wholesale network fees, data-provision terms, subscriber acquisition and profitability improvements.

MSIT, BMCC to step up policy coordination, speed up Korea broadcast media telecom promotion agency

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Broadcasting Media Communications Commission are strengthening policy coordination in areas including AI, media, digital regulation and user protection. The two agencies held their first working-level meeting on Sept. 17 to follow up on a senior-level policy consultation. They will jointly discuss the planned Korea Broadcast Media Telecommunications Promotion Agency, terrestrial UHD policy and user protection in cybersecurity incidents, and cooperate on an evaluation system for incident-related user protection from 2027.
