Naver Webtoon, Kakao Entertainment and other rights holders close overseas piracy site TuMangaOnline
Naver Webtoon, Kakao Entertainment and other major South Korean webtoon rights holders, working with the Copyright Overseas Promotion Association (COA), have shut down the Spanish-language piracy site TuMangaOnline and multiple related sites, they said on April 27. The action was carried out by Spanish judicial authorities and is described as the first case in which Korean rights holders directly responded overseas under local law and achieved results. The case is heading toward the opening of a formal criminal trial.

More than 1 in 3 U.S. cryptocurrency traders have reduced daily spending amid the recent market downturn, a CEX.IO survey of 1,100 active U.S. users showed. The survey found signs that unrealised losses are weighing on household finances, with respondents delaying or cancelling purchases and some using savings to stay financially stable. Despite the strain, most said their income sources were unchanged and many planned to hold or increase positions.

Digital euro to use European standards instead of Visa, Mastercard
The European Central Bank will adopt three European open payment standards for the digital euro infrastructure to reduce reliance on Visa and Mastercard in the euro zone, BeInCrypto reported on April 26. The ECB signed agreements with the European Cards Payment Cooperation, the Nexo Standards and the Berlin Group. The standards cover contactless payments, merchant and ATM transactions, and account-based transfers. Separately, major European banks are expanding moves to embed cryptocurrency trading into existing regulated platforms.
