AWS expands availability of Anthropic\'s Claude in Seoul region

Amazon Web Services said on Tuesday it has expanded availability of Anthropic\'s Claude AI models, including Claude Opus 5 and Claude Sonnet 5, on Amazon Bedrock in the AWS Asia Pacific (Seoul) region. The move allows organisations in South Korea to process inference domestically, keeping inference workflows and customer data in the country. AWS said demand is rising for advanced generative AI with local data processing, especially in regulated industries such as finance, public sector and healthcare.

Government to push major relocation of public agencies next year, to move about 350 and merge or abolish 109

South Korea will begin pushing the relocation of administrative and public agencies from the first half of next year and pursue organisational reforms, including reducing 109 public institutions, the government said. Prime Minister Han Sung-sook (한성숙) said relocation plans for about 350 public agencies in the Seoul area would be announced in the fourth quarter under a principle of minimising those that remain, with moves to start from 2027. The government also plans to integrate entities with overlapping functions.
