Google Cloud said on Tuesday it will support local data residency for Google Security Operations (Google SecOps) in the Google Cloud Seoul Region, or the Seoul region.
It said it plans to actively support customers in meeting data governance and data residency requirements.
Google Security Operations is a Google threat intelligence and AI-based security operations platform. It provides the speed, scale and insights needed for threat response and supports South Korean companies in strengthening agentic cyber defence capabilities.
The company said regulated industries such as finance and the public sector will be able to safely and flexibly embed Google's threat detection and response capabilities while complying with strict governance and regulatory compliance frameworks.
Jagadish Mahapatra (재그디시 마하파트라), head of Google Cloud Security for Japan and the Asia-Pacific (JAPAC) region, said, "The launch of Google Security Operations in the Seoul region will be a new turning point for cybersecurity in Korea." He said Google Cloud will meet South Korean companies' data sovereignty requirements while directly providing companies with Google's AI innovation technology and threat observability capabilities. He said it will go beyond responding to threats by cutting investigation time that previously took about 30 minutes to 1 minute and implementing a proactive cyber defence system at an unprecedented speed. "This is how Google Cloud helps companies protect their future against evolving threats," he said.
