Different strategies in same genre put second-half MMORPG launches in focus
Netmarble, Kakao Games, Com2uS and Smilegate plan to launch new massively multiplayer online role-playing games in the second half. Their four titles aim to address structural constraints in the genre through different approaches, including handing operating authority to users, directly inheriting a proven intellectual property, differentiating myth-based worldbuilding and reducing the burden of logging in. With launches clustered in the same period, the market will test which approach works in live service.

Npixel says Eclipse: The Awakening is a slightly different MMORPG, betting on light gameplay
Npixel’s new game “Eclipse: The Awakening,” to be published by Smilegate, is being readied for a 2026 release. The developer says it is building an MMORPG designed to be easy to enjoy, lowering entry barriers by reducing the pressure to stay logged in. It adds an idle accumulation system and shared growth across characters. The game also separates safe and danger zones to curb indiscriminate PK. Its “Sanctuary” content links light systems to a dark fantasy narrative.
