SK $500 billion, Samsung $200 billion: global AI deals unveiled
Around a San Francisco AI summit, South Korea unveiled government-led cooperation plans between global AI companies such as Nvidia, OpenAI and Broadcom and Korean firms including Samsung Electronics, SK Group, Hyundai Motor Group and Naver. Nvidia and SK Group disclosed a partnership intent worth more than $500 billion, while Samsung and Broadcom signed an MOU worth more than $200 billion through 2030. Nvidia and Brookfield also plan a $10 billion investment in Naver.

South Korea forms $9,500 billion AI alliance with global big tech, seeks 5 GW AI data centres
Major South Korean companies and global big tech firms will pursue semiconductor supply and production cooperation worth a total of $9,500 billion and build AI data centres with a combined capacity of 5 gigawatts. The Ministry of Science and ICT said it held the San Francisco AI Summit on July 24 local time with key domestic and overseas companies. It said six agreements were signed and the government will support implementation.

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung issued a “San Francisco AI Declaration” in San Francisco on July 24, pledging to make the country an indispensable axis of the global AI supply chain. He cited a 4,700 trillion won AI project investment announced in June and investment initiatives by domestic and foreign firms whose combined enterprise value exceeds 2 quadrillion won. The focus includes memory and foundry semiconductors, autonomous driving and AI factories.
