MSIT to prepare cross-government response after PHP flaw raises cyber alert

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT plans cross-government security measures after a widely used PHP programming language vulnerability led to a higher cyber crisis alert. Minister Bae Kyung-hoon said broader countermeasures are needed beyond PHP. The ministry and KISA urged immediate updates and raised the private-sector alert level to “Caution” from “Attention” at noon. Officials said they issued guidance late on Oct. 21 and advised offline operation if patching is difficult.
