South Korea's Game Rating and Administration Committee on Thursday urged users to take caution regarding the overseas game 'Soul Guide: In the Name of God' as administrative sanctions are under way for violating mandatory labeling for probability-based items.

The committee said monitoring confirmed the game failed to comply with multiple requirements, including mandatory labeling for probability-based items.

It said it sent six correction requests to the game company Play Cat Network Technology and also pursued cooperation procedures through a self-rating classification operator, but the company did not comply.

The committee is currently proceeding with relevant steps with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the game has entered the stage of public notice delivery via South Korea's electronic official gazette.

Public notice delivery is a process that notifies delivery through the electronic official gazette when it is difficult to deliver administrative documents through normal methods due to an unknown recipient or loss of contact.

If a correction order is not carried out even after the public notice delivery period ends, domestic distribution of 'Soul Guide' could be restricted under relevant laws and regulations.

'Soul Guide' was released on March 18 and has recorded more than 100,000 cumulative downloads on Google Play. It has ranked near the top of the role-playing chart on the Apple App Store and is also available on the Galaxy Store and ONE store.

The committee advised that when using a game for which smooth communication with the operator is difficult, users should check operator information and notices and should be cautious about additional payments.

GRAC Chairman Tae-geon Seo (서태건) said, "For overseas game companies that have no intention of complying with labeling obligations, we plan to proceed with follow-up measures in accordance with domestic legal procedures." He added, "We will also continue to push to protect users' rights and minimize harm."
