Manufacturing digitisation needs OT know-how, not just IT, Rockwell executive says
Competition is intensifying between IT companies and operational technology (OT) specialists as manufacturers push digitalisation, with each side expanding into the other’s territory. Rockwell Automation, known for industrial automation solutions such as PLCs, is accelerating efforts to internalise digital capabilities rather than outsource them. A Rockwell Automation Korea executive said manufacturing digitisation requires deep OT understanding to be effective and to reduce risks. The company’s strategy focuses on digital twins, data analytics, AI and OT security.

U.S. considers additional curbs on China-made robots in response to rare earth controls
The United States has begun reviewing possible restrictions on imports of China-made robots, broadening U.S.-China technology competition into robotics and physical AI, the article said. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said he was examining imports backed by Chinese government support and could act once the review ends. China responded by adding 10 U.S. companies, including MP Materials and USA Rare Earths, to a dual-use export ban list.

Rockwell Automation to unveil AI autonomous manufacturing system at AW2026
Rockwell Automation said on Monday it will take part in the 2026 Smart Factory and Automation Industry Exhibition (AW 2026) in Seoul from March 4 to 6, where it will unveil an AI-based autonomous manufacturing system. Its booth will feature five zones covering AI-powered design, operations and maintenance, as well as innovation and industry applications. The company will also run daily booth tours, seminars and one-on-one consulting sessions.
