South Korean AI chip firms look to expand \'sovereign AI\' on AMD open ecosystem after Lisa Su meeting

AMD Chief Executive Lisa Su met South Korean AI chip companies to expand cooperation based on an open AI computing ecosystem. South Korea’s science ministry and AMD held a roundtable in Seoul to discuss building a heterogeneous computing ecosystem and combining AMD CPUs and GPUs with locally made AI chips. Officials and executives said demand is shifting toward inference, increasing interest in mixing GPUs and NPUs. The government plans large-scale reference projects to validate full-stack systems.

TypeSafeAI CEO says 25% of Fortune 500 companies use Jev, confident against copycat models

The Wall Street Journal reported that Jev, an AI model launched three weeks ago in Silicon Valley, is drawing attention as an alternative to large language models. Startup TypeSafeAI unveiled Jev on Sept. 15. It classifies inputs into preset outputs such as yes or no, scores or list answers rather than generating text. CEO Diogo Almeida says about 25% of Fortune 500 companies already use it.

SKT says industrial site know-how is AI edge, speeds up advancing proprietary models

SK Telecom is accelerating upgrades to its proprietary foundation models, seeking to combine them with specialised knowledge from industrial sites such as manufacturing, semiconductors and batteries. At the Digital Insight 2026 conference in Seoul, an executive said models that can be controlled domestically help turn subtle field knowledge into assets and preserve choice over key AI technologies. The company is developing a suite centred on A.X K2 and prioritises evaluation, safety and practical usability over absolute performance contests.
