Rivian, Volkswagen expand technology alliance to AI voice assistant
U.S. electric vehicle maker Rivian has expanded its technology cooperation with Germany\'s Volkswagen Group to include an in-car AI voice assistant. Rivian said it will license parts of its self-developed voice assistant technology to Volkswagen, without disclosing fees, contract terms or models. The entry-level ID.EVERY1, due in 2027, is cited as an initial candidate, though installation is not confirmed. The firms set up joint venture RV Tech in November 2024.

Rivian rises to No. 2 in U.S. EV sales in third quarter behind Tesla, overtaking Chevrolet
U.S. electric vehicle maker Rivian rose to the second-biggest EV brand in the United States in the third quarter, behind Tesla, after ranking 10th a year earlier. Rivian sold 19,239 vehicles, up 45.7 percent, for a 7.2 percent market share, helped by the new R2 SUV and a surge in electric delivery van sales. Chevrolet slipped to third, though GM brands combined still led Rivian.

U.S. EV market rebounds in Q3, up 7.7 percent, Tesla dominates
The U.S. electric vehicle market showed signs of recovery in the third quarter, posting its highest sales in a year as the market stabilised after the end of a federal tax credit. Cox Automotive put third-quarter EV sales at 266,630 units, up 7.7 percent from the previous quarter but down 38.6 percent from a year earlier. Tesla led year-to-date sales through September, while Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 was the top-selling non-Tesla model.
