Song Kyung-hee says she will build virtuous cycle of tough penalties and active investment
Song Kyung-hee, chair of South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission, said in a New Year address that 2026 will be the first year of a major shift in the personal data protection framework. She said the commission will pursue five key policies, including a virtuous cycle of strong penalties and investment, a prevention-led protection system, a trust-based AI innovation society, a daily privacy safety net, and deeper international cooperation.
