LG Electronics strengthened hygiene management functions by applying 100C steam to both the cleaning robot body and its station. LG Electronics said on June 29 it will launch its new cleaning robot, the "LG Homebot AI Objet Collection RONi" (RONi).
RONi will be released with two station lineups. The "Hidden Station" is 15 cm tall and can be installed as-is in the baseboard space under a kitchen sink. Its structure allows the cleaning robot to be hidden in that space without separate lower-cabinet installation work. The "Objet Station" is designed like a side table and can be placed independently in any space, such as a living room or bedroom. The product height, handle thickness and the height at which the water tank is pulled out are designed ergonomically. Both products have a shipment price of 2.19 million won.
During cleaning, RONi sprays 100C steam onto the mop to remove floor contamination. After cleaning, it uses steam and hot-water washing at the station to remove 99.99 percent of four types of harmful bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli. After washing, it uses warm-air drying to reduce odor-causing substances by up to 97 percent. It also uses the patented "station conditioning" technology to discharge internal moisture through an exhaust fan. Suction power is 30W, and the mop operates at 180 rotations per minute.
It also strengthened AI functions and security. Using eight sensors installed in the body and its in-house AI object recognition technology, it distinguishes about 120 types of objects, including cables, flower pots and pet excrement. It adjusts suction power and driving methods on its own for each space, such as living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms, and in kitchens where food often falls, it sets routes to increase cleaning intensity. With its proprietary security system "LG Shield", it encrypts collected data and received Privacy by Design certification from the Personal Information Protection Commission. RONi will be released from the 2nd.
Son Chang-woo (손창우), head of LG Electronics' Living Solution Business Division, said, "By applying 100C steam to both the body and the station, we will maximize hygiene management while providing customers with a different level of user experience through a neat design that enhances the quality of residential spaces."
