Vice Chair Ha Jung-woo visits Daegu manufacturing AX sites, checks robots and mobility

The presidential National AI Strategy Committee said its standing vice chair, Ha Jung-woo, visited Daegu on Oct. 21 to inspect artificial intelligence transformation (AX) sites in manufacturing, robotics and mobility. Ha attended the opening of FIX 2026 at Daegu EXCO and toured an AI-based process innovation simulation center supporting small and midsize firms. He also reviewed manufacturing AX applied to cathode active material production at L&F Plus. He is set to visit Pohang on Oct. 22.

Christopher Jarzynski, creator of Jarzynski equality, wins Lee Hwi-so Award

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) selected Christopher Jarzynski, a chair professor at the University of Maryland, as the 2026 Lee Hwi-so Award recipient. The award, established in 2012 by APCTP and the Korean Physical Society, honors the late physicist Lee Hwi-so. Jarzynski is recognized for work in nonequilibrium statistical physics and thermodynamics.

MSIT holds first \'My Research Challenge Story\' event; Keimyung University professor wins top prize

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity on Monday held the finals of the inaugural \'My Research Challenge Story\' contest in Seoul. They selected Lee Jong-won of Keimyung University as the top prize winner. The contest highlights researchers\' trial-and-error and challenges on the way to new achievements. The event also named two excellence prize winners and three encouragement prize winners, with cash awards.
