[Digital Today reporter Lee Ji-young] Naver Pay supports local currency payments including Seoul Pay, Daegu-ro Pay and Pohang Love Gift Certificates on its offline integrated terminal, Npay Connect.

Naver Pay said on Thursday it is expanding links for local currency payments on Npay Connect.

The newly linked local currencies are Seoul's local currency Seoul Pay, Daegu's local currency Daegu-ro Pay and Pohang's local currency Pohang Love Gift Certificates.

Users can pay by QR code at participating merchants among stores with Npay Connect installed where the relevant local currency can be used. Local currency merchants can display the relevant local currency as a payment method on the Npay Connect terminal screen.

Naver Pay plans to inform Npay Connect merchants about the local currency payment function through local governments, local currency operators and local VAN agencies.

It will also link the local currency integration to a payment fee support programme for small and midsize merchants. Naver Pay has been supporting payment fees for small and midsize merchants that installed Npay Connect from August through year-end.

Lee Hyang-cheol (이향철), head leader for Npay Pay Services, said, "Starting with the integration of Seoul Pay, Daegu-ro Pay and Pohang Love Gift Certificates, we plan to expand cooperation with local governments nationwide."
