Korea post office evolves into everyday safety infrastructure beyond delivery
Cases are rising of postal carriers acting as a local safety net, from helping at traffic accidents to stopping fires and preventing voice phishing losses. Korea’s Postal Service said carriers’ roles are expanding beyond reporting incidents to early response and support for elderly and isolated households. It has institutionalised regular home visits through a welfare parcel programme and piloted cash delivery of local subsidies for older residents.

Science, ICT and Broadcasting committee adopts hearing report on Go Gwang-heon nominee
South Korea\'s National Assembly Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee adopted a hearing report on Go Gwang-heon (고광헌), nominee for the first chair of the Broadcast Media Communications Review Commission. The report was approved under the leadership of the Democratic Party after People Power Party lawmakers did not take part in the vote. The report will be sent to the government without a plenary vote. Go will take office if President Lee Jae-myung approves it.

AIDC special act clears science and ICT panel; power exemption debate looms in judiciary review
South Korea’s National Assembly Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee on April 14 passed a special act on AI data centres (AIDC). The bill must still be reviewed by the Legislation and Judiciary Committee and approved at a plenary session. The consolidated proposal focuses on easing power and licensing rules, including exemptions for non-capital AIDCs and broader direct power purchase contracts. Disputes are expected over expanded power-related exemptions.
