Oil and forex risks mount as South Korea steps up internet bank IT controls

Naver Pay upgrades Pay Pet feature, expands character customization and mini games
Naver Pay said on Thursday it has expanded functions and content for Pay Pet, a character-based points accumulation service. The update strengthens features that allow users to decorate characters and spaces directly, using items across seven categories. Items can be purchased with Pet Cookies earned through check-ins, missions and mini games, or obtained free through events. Naver Pay also added four new characters and expanded mini games from two to six.

South Korea\'s fintech industry is expanding participatory content such as games and mini-apps as firms seek to move beyond utility tools for financial transactions. Kakao Pay launched instant-play mini-games without installation and links missions to points. Naver Pay combines game mechanics with payment activities through its Pay Pet service. Toss is building an ecosystem via its App in Toss mini-app platform, which has surpassed 1,000 partner mini-apps and 51 million cumulative users.
