U.S. Pentagon launches \'Project Meridian\' with Elon Musk to shape future warfare

The U.S. Defense Department has launched a new advisory effort, Project Meridian, to identify technologies and weapons needed for future warfare. Elon Musk, Palmer Luckey and former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich will jointly lead the project. The Pentagon plans to study future battlefields, identify capabilities needed for an advantage and propose ways to develop, test and deploy them. The work is due within 120 days, with a public report and a classified annex.

U.S. OCC reaffirms push to expand new bank charters, quickening crypto firms\' entry

The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has reaffirmed its policy of promoting de novo bank charters, accelerating crypto firms’ entry into the federal banking system. Ripple, Circle, Crypto.com and Paxos have received conditional approvals linked to national trust bank charters, while Coinbase’s application is under review. Traditional banking groups have urged the OCC to reject or slow such applications, citing risk management, internal controls and governance concerns.

Boeing sells three air taxi startups to Archer Aviation

Boeing is selling three electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) subsidiaries to Archer Aviation and will also take an equity stake in Archer. The assets include Wisk Aero, SkyGrid and Insitu. Boeing and Archer will share technology, while Boeing will retain access to Wisk’s autonomous flight system for commercial and defence projects. Archer plans to begin pilot air taxi services before year-end in New York, Texas and Florida.
