Toss joins hands with Togethers to roll out Facepay at 5,000 marts nationwide

Viva Republica, operator of Toss, will roll out its facial payment service Facepay at about 5,000 small and midsized marts nationwide in partnership with POS solution provider Togethers. Toss said it signed a business agreement with Togethers on July 24 in Seoul. The companies plan to apply Toss Pay payments at stores using Togethers\' TogetherPOS system and sequentially install Toss Front terminals that support facial payments.

Lawson to test stablecoin payments at convenience stores with JPYC from August

Japan\'s convenience store chain Lawson will introduce payments using yen-pegged stablecoin JPYC at stores from August. A pilot is set for early August at a Lawson store operated by telecoms company KDDI, using a smartphone wallet barcode scanned by a POS terminal. Lawson plans to check POS integration and payment time. KDDI has a capital and business tie-up with wallet firm HashPort, which supports the trial.

Charles Hoskinson calls Ethereum staking structure a mess, says Cardano is better

Charles Hoskinson (찰스 호스킨슨), CEO of Input Output Global and founder of Cardano, criticised Ethereum\'s proof-of-stake staking design, saying it forces unnecessary complexity on users. He pointed to lockups, slashing risk, bonding periods and reliance on liquid staking derivatives such as Lido. Hoskinson said Cardano lets ADA holders earn staking rewards through delegation without locking up assets while keeping token control. He has also criticised the Ethereum Foundation over proposals he says echo Cardano\'s EUTXO model.
