Toss Place, Toss’s payment terminal and point-of-sale (POS) solution unit, has signed a strategic business partnership agreement (MOU) with local community platform Karrot to link online and offline channels, it said on Wednesday.

Under the agreement, the companies will connect Karrot’s online user base of about 20 million with Toss Place’s offline in-store payment infrastructure. The core is to link the two companies’ services across small merchants’ store operations, including promotion, ordering and payments.

The companies will first link Karrot’s Biz Profile with Toss POS. Merchants will be able to register store information, menus and customer reviews on Karrot and have their stores displayed on Karrot’s neighborhood map and at the top of the app.

Merchants that link Karrot’s Biz Profile with Toss POS will also receive 30,000 points that can be used for Karrot advertising. Merchants that previously used Karrot and Toss POS separately will be able to handle related store operations tasks in Toss POS without switching between separate administrator screens.

The companies plan to gradually link reservations, orders and takeout requests received through the Karrot app so they can be checked and processed in Toss POS. In offline payments, Toss Place’s all-in-one payment terminal Toss Front will support Karrot Pay payments.

The companies plan to expand cooperation through wider distribution of Toss POS and Toss Front and joint marketing for small merchants.

A Toss Place official said, "We will continue to provide practical help for small merchants’ store operations through cooperation that connects online and offline."
